Satcom1 Implements VoIP on VIP-aircraft
Innovative again, Satcom1’s business jet/VIP customers can now use their smartphones on-board their jets.
The Danish-founded company, Satcom1, has implemented a solution allowing users to call and receive phone calls on their own personal cell phone on board the business jets. This solution is available for most hybrid Cell/WiFi phones.
The phone must be used in “Flight mode”, with Wireless LAN enabled. The technology is easily certifiable on the aircraft since it makes use of existing wireless LANs on-board the aircraft. The solution available today is based on last mile VoIP, making use of VoIP in the cabin and traditional robust satellite voice between the aircraft and the ground.
The system has been tested with success air-to-ground and ground-to-air using Inmarsat Swift64 as well as Inmarsat Aero-H+ technology. To utilize the satcom system, Satcom1 offers to be the designer and/or integrator to make your onboard satcom network ideal covering all aspects of the network; the Aero-H+ or Swift64 satcom hardware, the AR250 JetLAN from NAT Seattle, laptops and the hybrid Cell/WiFi phones setup.
During NBAA, Mr. Jean-Francois Gault, CTO Satcom1 will be speaking about; satcom networks, Internet,
onboard videoconference, the AR250 JetLAN capacity, VoIP and more during the NBAA organized
“Satcom Review Session” approximately at 3.10 PM Tuesday 25th.
If you would like to install VoIP on your airplane, please feel free to contact us.
