"The advantages of satellite communications" - London, RAF Norholt Station at 2 pm in the Hurricane Room.
|
| | Jesper Bękgaard, SATCOM 1, Director Special Programs, Denmark
| In today's world the aircraft cabin must provide everything you would expect in your own office to make travel time effective and the cockpit processes and workload must be optimized. Satellite communications can help both in the cabin and in the cockpit. With satellite equipment on board it is possible to stay connected in your office-in-the-sky. Not only can you use aircraft phones or even your personal phone to make calls, but also connect your personal laptop or PDA and send and receive emails as on ground, as well as surf the Internet or send a fax. In the cockpit, satellite communication can assist by providing EFB updates and the latest weather. Also satellite communications will enable the use of ACARS (Aircraft Communications, Addressing and Reporting Systems). ACARS is a digital data link system for transmission of short, relatively simple messages between aircraft and ground stations via radio or satellite. It is all about optimizing the planning of the flight including flight planning, position reporting, fuel savings etc. It has been used in the commercial industry for many years, but is now increasingly used in business aviation.

Extreme Low Running Cost for the Swiftbroadband Users !
Thursday 17. of December 2009
|
|
It is exciting to see Swiftbroadband take off at the customers.
The recent months, Satcom1 has activated several aircraft types with the Inmarsat technology Swiftbroadband and the customers are starting to enjoy the benefit of this great technology.
It is VIP A330, A319, several VIP BBJs, Dornier for Coast Guard Survaillance usage. Inmarsat expects more than 500+ to be needing activation in 2010 as the hardware gets installed more default by the aircraft OEMs e.g. Bombardier, Gulfstream, Falconjet and Embraer.
Satcom1 hopes to service many of these aircraft customers to allow the customers the benefits:
- Extreme low running cost versus previous Swift64 technology. E.g only appr. 2 USD for cell phone call on board. Internet by MB instead of per minute, which is extremely attractive.
- A long term solution as it is based on I-4 satellites, so 17 years+ ahead
- Internet, E-mail, Cell phone usage via SIP to very low operation cost
- No congestion in the satellite network as with Swift64 since Swiftbroadband allocates bandwith dynamic and therefore with many users in an area, then more band width is simply allocated
- Satcom1 has even made LiveTV run over Swiftbroadband and also individual billing of users traffic on board and also per each flight. It is an existing period
- Satcom1 engineers can easily assist you upgrade from Aero-M, Aero-I, Aero-H/H+, Swift64 to Swiftbroadband. We can design an upgrade or simply suggest fast and effecient setup pending your existing on board technology. If you are taking a new aircraft delivery ensure to request Swiftbroadband since it is very low in running cost and you are making a solid longterm investment in your aircraft and features available on board.
Satcom1 activation team looks forward to assist you to activate your aircraft with Swiftbroadband. any questions you may have please feel free to contact us. E-mail: activation@satcom1.com or + 45 46154546.
